It was a good run, but the Heard County Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Lamar County on the road by a decisive 45-28 margin. While losing is never fun, Heard County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Lamar County is ranked 151st).
Despite the loss, Heard County still got an impressive performance from Antonio Heath, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Lamar County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ty Head out in front who rushed for 48 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for ten yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Head was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Jordan Glover and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lamar County's win.
Heard County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Lamar County, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heard County will take on Pelham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar County, they will be playing at home against Bacon County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bacon County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
