The Freeport Bulldogs will challenge the Walton Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Freeport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Freeport was handed a 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Ponce De Leon 6-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Kaylee Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Stephens, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Corissa Duggar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Walton lost 15-3 to Bozeman on Friday. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alayah Dalton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The win got Freeport back to even at 6-6. As for Walton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Walton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Freeport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Walton, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Freeport's hitters?

Freeport skirted past Walton 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
