Atherton hasn't had much luck against Genesee recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolverines will head out to square off against the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Atherton put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Flint Southwestern Academy. The Wolverines not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 19, 2025 (when they won 25-0).
Meanwhile, in Monday's Canine Competition, Genesee came out on top. They blew past Bentley 15-9 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Logan Ball made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Landon Miller and Dominic Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Collins got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Miller has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Aydin Cooper, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Genesee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bentley only posted a batting average of .222.
Atherton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Genesee, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Atherton couldn't quite get it done against Genesee in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 14-11. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
