The Granada Hills Charter Highlanders will take on the Irvine Vaqueros in a tournament on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Granada Hills Charter has three straight victories, Irvine has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Granada Hills Charter beats Irvine with ten runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Granada Hills Charter walked away with a 10-6 win over Agoura on Thursday.
Addison Moorman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Zoe Justman was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Samantha Esparza was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Justman wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Granada Hills Charter lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. They launched three more home runs than Agoura's also-impressive total of three.
Meanwhile, Irvine scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Fountain Valley, falling 13-6.
Rebecca Franco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Liu, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Granada Hills Charter's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for Irvine, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Granada Hills Charter hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Irvine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Granada Hills Charter skirted past Irvine 3-2 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Granada Hills Charter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Irvine turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
