The Johnston Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Cranston West Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Johnston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Johnston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Toll Gate, who was ranked 14th at the time (Johnston was ranked 18th). The Panthers fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Haley Boudreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Alanna Colon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Boudreau, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Cranston West and East Providence had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Falcons put the hurt on the Townies with a sharp 11-5 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Mia Crudale was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crudale was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Mia Sampaio looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Ava Iannelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in June of 2024. Mia Baffoni also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Cranston West's record now sits at 9-6. As for Johnston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Johnston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cranston West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
