The East Grand Rapids Pioneers rang in the new year with a 54-46 victory over the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

East Grand Rapids' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Forest Hills Eastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

East Grand Rapids and Forest Hills Eastern could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings.
