The Unaka Rangers will square off against the West Greene Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Unaka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Unaka took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on University School with a sharp 14-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rangers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Kimberly Proffitt spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mollie Buckles and Brooklyn Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Buckles went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That home run was Buckles' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Markland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Unaka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

West Greene couldn't beat South Greene on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Buffaloes came up short against the Rebels, falling 21-7.

Hayley Arnold was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Addison Peters, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Unaka's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for West Greene, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
