The GVCS Broadfording Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 63-43 loss at the hands of Heritage Academy. While losing is never fun, GVCS Broadfording can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Heritage Academy is ranked 14th).
When it comes to explaining why GVCS Broadfording lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daniel Cartwright. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Cartwright set a new season high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Nashon Mann, who scored 12 points.
GVCS Broadfording has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Heritage Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
GVCS Broadfording won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Allegany at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Heritage Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mountain Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on December 26th.
