West Ashley has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Fort Dorchester Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
West Ashley struggled with assists on Friday (the Green Wave had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. West Ashley ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-35 walloping at the hands of the Green Wave. While losing is never fun, West Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Green Wave are ranked 21st).
Despite the defeat, West Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Destiny Ladson scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacy Gerald, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Even though Fort Dorchester has not done well against the Warriors recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fort Dorchester walked away with a 45-35 win over the Warriors.
West Ashley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fort Dorchester, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
