Salt Fork has gone 8-2 against Oakwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Storm will face off against the Comets at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Salt Fork will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating St. Joseph-Ogden, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Storm had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Salt Fork who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 25-14.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oakwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Iroquois West by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Oakwood didn't let Iroquois West take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 26-24.
Salt Fork better keep an eye on Kendyl Rogers. She was instrumental in Oakwood's win, getting 16 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Rogers has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Dailey, who had ten assists and eight digs.
Salt Fork's record now sits at 14-7. As for Oakwood, their record is now 5-15.
Salt Fork came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Comets' Quinn Sperry, who had 13 digs and five aces. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Storm to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
