Kennedy has gone 8-2 against Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Titans will face off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Kennedy has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Kennedy after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of James Logan. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vanessa Rodriguez and Tatyana Corrales did some serious damage despite the final result: Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Corrales went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Rodriguez also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adaliz Banda, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Washington had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-2 victory. Considering the Huskies have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ynez Lopez and Molly Racklin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lopez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Racklin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Lopez went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Racklin got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Elena Fotopoulos was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ariel Guerra was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Washington, their record is now 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kennedy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Kennedy's way against Washington when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Kennedy made off with a 12-3 win. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
