Central Cabarrus is 10-0 against Concord since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Central Cabarrus Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Concord Spiders at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central Cabarrus comes in on 53 and Concord on three.
Central Cabarrus can now show off 20 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to West Rowan for the full four quarters, racking up a 87-37 victory on the road. Given Central Cabarrus' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while West Rowan is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Cabarrus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Daniel, who scored eight points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Daniel hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Desmond Kent Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though South Rowan scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, Concord still came out on top. Concord put the hurt on South Rowan with a sharp 93-71 win. Concord pushed the score to 77-49 by the end of the third, a deficit South Rowan cut but never quite recovered from.
Central Cabarrus pushed their record up to 21-0 with that victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.6 points. As for Concord, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Central Cabarrus against Concord in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 83-50 win. With Central Cabarrus ahead 52-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
