Softball Recap: Oakland's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of nine wins, Oakland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Silverdale Academy Seahawks by a score of 3-2. The Patriots were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Seahawks' pitcher proved too tough.

Taylor Minnick spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Chloe Aaron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jada Ellison, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Oakland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3-1. As for Silverdale Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4-1 record this season.

Oakland and Silverdale Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Patriots (ranked tenth) will meet Blackman (ranked 59th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Silverdale Academy will take on Grace Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (6 vs. 269). The timing is sure in the Seahawks' favor as the squad sits on 23 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Golden Eagles have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
