The Pius X Thunderbolts will square off against the Grand Island Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pius X's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Creighton Prep by a score of 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Pius X got a great performance from Tyler Parr as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Parr has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Jesus Yanez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jake Bugbee, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Grand Island ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hastings 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Islanders as they're now sitting on three straight.
Grand Island's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Schroeder, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Grand Island hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Grand Island pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Pius X's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. The Thunderbolts have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Grand Island, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pius X continue to outrun the ball?
Pius X couldn't quite finish off Grand Island in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Thunderbolts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
