After losing to the Indian River Warriors the last time they met, the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill came out on top against Indian River by a score of 52-43 on Saturday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vernon-Verona-Sherrill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Atticus Roque, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Roque set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Eliijah Donegan, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill pushed their record up to 4-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Indian River, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Camden at 3:00 p.m. on January 7th. Camden will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Indian River, they will head out on the road to face off against Watertown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Watertown has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 565 points over their last eight matches.
