Basketball Recap: Lawrenceville Has No Trouble Against Newton

After losing to Newton the last time they met, Lawrenceville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lawrenceville Indians were the clear victor by a 51-31 margin over the Newton Eagles on Saturday. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Noah Wilson had a dynamite game for Lawrenceville, going 7 of 11 en route to 18 points. Wilson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Goff, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Lawrenceville's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrenceville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Clay/Clay City at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Newton, they will venture away from home to take on Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th.
