The Woodland Regional Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Naugatuck Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodland Regional will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Woodland Regional's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Crosby 12-0. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Tyler Yoxall looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler DeCrescenzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Woodland Regional's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bryce DeCrescenzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Woodland Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Naugatuck fell victim to Ansonia and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.
Naugatuck also got a good showing from Lucas Ferraiolo, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Ferraiolo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
The victory got Woodland Regional back to even at 11-11. As for Naugatuck, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Woodland Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Naugatuck struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Woodland Regional couldn't quite finish off Naugatuck in their previous matchup back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
