Highland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Skyline Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Highland's 16-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 50-37 to East.
Danae Asiata put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 20 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 54.1% of Highland's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Kaufusi, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Skyline had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 70-54 win over East on Tuesday. Skyline's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skyline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cami Groberg, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Groberg has scored all season. Leelu Bare was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Highland bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Skyline, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Highland have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Highland came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyline in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 63-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
