The Bishop Manogue Miners had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 victory over Faith Lutheran on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but Bishop Manogue sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Bishop Manogue's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Scolari, who picked up 162 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Scolari was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 60 yards. Cody Fleischmann and his 143 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Bishop Manogue's victory.
Despite the loss, Faith Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Alex Rogers, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 162 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Faith Lutheran's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Bishop Manogue's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cole Keith and his two sacks.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Faith Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
