The Bellbrook Golden Eagles will take on the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bellbrook 3.8, Ross 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Bellbrook turned things around against Valley View on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Golden Eagles have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Abigail Hebrank (2028) made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Hebrank (2028) was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Duhl (2025) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Heidi Pummell (2027) was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Bellbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Ross entered their tilt with Mount Notre Dame on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Mount Notre Dame.
Like Bellbrook, Ross also got a great game from a two-way player: Paige Baker. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Baker has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Baker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kam Commins, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Ross' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bellbrook, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Bellbrook came up short against Ross in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
