Greenville hasn't had much luck against Slippery Rock recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Rockets at 4:00 p.m. Greenville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Greenville was able to grind out a solid win over West Middlesex, taking the game 9-4. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Big Reds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Nick Solderich made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Solderich was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brandon Stubert was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Blake Rottman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slippery Rock). They blew past Titusville 13-6 on Wednesday.
The team relied heavily on Parker Dalcamo, who fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Isaac McCandless was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Slippery Rock lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Greenville's record is now 14-2. As for Slippery Rock, their record now sits at 12-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Greenville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Slippery Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenville suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Slippery Rock in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
