Basketball Recap: Gatlinburg-Pittman Piles Up the Points Against Pigeon Forge

Gatlinburg-Pittman won against Pigeon Forge last Monday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders really took it to the Pigeon Forge Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-38 victory. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Gatlinburg-Pittman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chloe Mejias led the charge by going 7-for-10 en route to 16 points and five steals. Mejias is becoming a predictor of Gatlinburg-Pittman's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 12-1 (and 7-10 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Addi Wear, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Gatlinburg-Pittman was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Gatlinburg-Pittman's win bumped their record up to 19-11. As for Pigeon Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.

Looking ahead, Gatlinburg-Pittman will face off against Alcoa at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pigeon Forge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
