The Rochester Zebras will face off against the Maconaquah Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Rochester is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Wabash just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to the Apaches. The contest marked the Zebras' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Rochester saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Linden Wilburn also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah beat Lewis Cass 9-5 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Kings: they've now won three in a row.
Bennett Isenburg was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Kobe Bowman was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caiden Richards, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Maconaquah's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Rochester, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rochester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maconaquah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rochester came out on top in a nail-biter against Maconaquah in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Zebras repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
