Pipestone is 1-9 against Luverne since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Pipestone and three for Luverne.
Last Saturday, Pipestone came up short against Castlewood and fell 59-51. While losing is never fun, Pipestone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 329th in Minnesota, while Castlewood is ranked 95th in South Dakota).
Meanwhile, Luverne's 24-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Estelline/Hendricks on Saturday.
Pipestone's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Luverne, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Pipestone took a serious blow against Luverne in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 75-48. Can Pipestone avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
