Basketball Game Preview: Oak City Prep Bears vs. Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals

The Oak City Prep Bears will venture away from home to challenge the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Oak City Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64 points per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, Oak City Prep took a blow against Freedom Christian Academy, falling 109-45. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Patriots are ranked 154th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amazin Dixon, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyeon Wilson, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Wayne Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 77-71 heartbreaker at the hands of Grace Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Generals still had to take the loss.

Oak City Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
