Baseball Recap: Copley Comes Up Short

Copley saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mayfield Wildcats by a score of 3-2.

Evan Chmielewski was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Copley is 3-1 when Chmielewski allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-16 otherwise. Chmielewski was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Chmielewski wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was AZ Patterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Copley has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Mayfield, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-16.

As of now, neither Copley nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
