The St. Ignatius Wildcats will take on the Mason Comets at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
St. Ignatius took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Padua Franciscan as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Patrick Cousineau tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Mick Allington and Brett Krugman did most of the damage at the plate: Allington went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Krugman went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Allington a new career-high. A.J. Peluso also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
St. Ignatius was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mason entered their tilt with Sycamore on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Aviators with a sharp 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Chase Cox, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Hutch Crociata was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Mason pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Ignatius, their record is now 8-4.
St. Ignatius took their victory against Mason in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-5 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
