Basketball Recap: Central Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Monroe

Central Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 44th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Monroe Redhawks, falling 73-47. One positive for the Cougars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Janiyah Boyd continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monroe, going 11-for-20 en route to 28 points along with six assists and five steals. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Boyd has scored at least a third of Monroe's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dezire Hailey, who posted six points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Central Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Central Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monroe, they have already played their next match, a 66-65 defeat against Parkwood on the 21st.
