The Jellico Blue Devils pushed their score all the way to 82 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 91-82 to Clarkrange. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (80), Jellico still had to take the loss.
Jellico's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac McNealy, who scored 26 points along with 5 rebounds. McNealy hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. John Zecchini was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
Clarkrange was led to victory by Jack Cordell and Bryton Swallows. Cordell scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds, while Swallows dropped a double-double on 24 points and 10 rebounds. The contest was Swallows' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristopher Beaty, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Jellico and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Clarkrange, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Jellico will be playing in front of their home fans against Coalfield at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clarkrange, they will head out on the road to face off against Stone Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stone Memorial will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
