The Newcomb Skyhawks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wingate Bears at 7:00 p.m. Newcomb knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Wingate likes a good challenge.
Even though Thoreau scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Newcomb still came out on top. Newcomb strolled past Thoreau with points to spare, taking the game 74-59.
Roydell Edison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mikal Ashley, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Wingate's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zuni. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wingate has scored all season.
Newcomb has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Wingate, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Newcomb was able to grind out a solid win over Wingate when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 59-51. Will Newcomb repeat their success, or does Wingate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
