AAAA Region 6A recap December 3, 2013
Marist extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 6A this week by beating Burke County, 42-20. The victory was the 11th in a row for the team.
Marist was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Bears. Alan Chadwick's team came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Marist's offense has been unstoppable this season and the War Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Chase Martenson has thrown for 707 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Trey Oates has 8 catches for 175 yards. Martenson also leads the league in rushing with 1,100 yards.
In 154 carries Xzavier Shugars has accumulated 908 yard this year.
The War Eagles took down Burke County 42-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Martenson ran for 160 yards during the win.
