Cocoa extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 4-10. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bayside Bears. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Bears when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Cocoa got a good showing from Connor Temple, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, Champ Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Bayside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
On Bayside's side, Johnny Good was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Good also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bayside is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-11 otherwise. Good was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Ramroop, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Braylen Perri was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Looking ahead, Cocoa is taking a road trip to face off against Merritt Island Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bayside will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' matchup: after the Tigers face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Bayside again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
