In what's become a running theme this season, the Greenwood Mennonite Flames gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 49-9 victory over Fairwinds Christian. Winning may never get old, but Greenwood Mennonite sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leading Greenwood Mennonite to victory were Laci Mast and Faith Troyer. Mast scored 12 points along with eight steals, while Troyer scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Mast is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nona Wright, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fairwinds Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greenwood Mennonite racked up 11 assists.
Greenwood Mennonite's win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.1 points. As for Fairwinds Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Greenwood Mennonite will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Faith Baptist School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Monday. As for Fairwinds Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Chestertown Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
