The Newton Tigers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-55 to Northeast Lauderdale. While losing is never fun, Newton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Northeast Lauderdale is ranked 19th).
Northeast Lauderdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Baskin, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Clark, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Newton now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Northeast Lauderdale, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 7-1 record.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton will take on Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Northeast Lauderdale, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Piney Woods at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Piney Woods has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 209 points over their last three contests.
