After a string of five wins, the Combs Coyotes's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They suffered a  tough 79-59 defeat at the hands of Red Mountain. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Combs came into the  contest with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings  (they are ranked 11th, while Red Mountain is ranked 61st).
 Combs' lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Johnathon Byaus, who  scored 19 points along with 9  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Logan  Tuckfield, who  scored 16 points along with 5  rebounds and 3  steals.
 Red Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Conor Doka led the charge by  scoring 16 points along with 8  rebounds. Another player making a difference was  Gage Lindsey, who  scored 16 points along with 7  rebounds.
 Combs' loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Red Mountain, they now  have a winning record of 3-2.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Combs won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Cortez at 7:00  p.m.  on December 1st. As for Red Mountain, they will be playing at home against Corona del Sol at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Corona del Sol knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Red Mountain likes a good challenge.
