The Purchase Line Red Dragons's 17-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They walked away with a 69-56 victory over Harmony Area. Purchase Line's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Purchase Line to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakob Mountain, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Stephen Perruso was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Harmony Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Bracken. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 37 points and 13 rebounds. Bracken scored a full 66.1% of Harmony Area's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Hagens, who scored six points.
Harmony Area struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Purchase Line posted 15 assists.
Purchase Line's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10. As for Harmony Area, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-4 record last season and are now at 2-8.
Purchase Line will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Homer-Center at 7:15 p.m. on January 8, 2024. As for Harmony Area, they will head out on the road to face off against Curwensville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Curwensville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Harmony Area likes a good challenge.
