The Salmen Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Phoenix Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Salmen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
Last Friday, Salmen earned a 51-42 victory over Hahnville. The victory was just what Salmen needed coming off of a 68-47 loss in their prior game.
Salmen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendal Thomas led the charge by scoring 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was Thomas' third in a row with at least ten points. Treasure Mccall was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Even though Phoenix has not done well against South Plaquemines recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Phoenix took their game at home with ease, bagging a 70-24 win over South Plaquemines. Phoenix might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five games by 31 points or more this season.
Northshore's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Salmen's defeat dropped theirs to 4-3.
Everything went Salmen's way against Phoenix when the teams last played back in January of 2022 as Salmen made off with a 67-45 victory. Does Salmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Phoenix turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
