Softball Recap: Freeburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Roxana

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freeburg). They blew past the Roxana Shells 23-7 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Midgets, who have now won three games in a row.

Freeburg got a massive performance out of Katelyn Whitworth, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave Whitworth a new career-high. Emylee Martin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Freeburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Freeburg now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Roxana, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Coming up, Freeburg will host Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roxana will be paying especially close attention to the Midgets' contest: after the Midgets face off against the Maroons, they'll take on Roxana again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
