The Baltic Bulldogs stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They breezed by Colman-Egan on the road to the tune of 68-38. Given Baltic's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Colman-Egan is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jack Erickson was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Baltic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Artz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The win (which was Baltic's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Colman-Egan, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baltic will take on Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Baltic likes a good challenge. As for Colman-Egan, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wilmot at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Colman-Egan is on a six-game streak of home losses, Wilmot a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
