Golden is 9-1 against Conifer since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Golden Demons will head out on the road to take on the Conifer Lobos at 6:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Wednesday, Golden came up short against Standley Lake and fell 54-47. While losing is never fun, Golden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Standley Lake is ranked 50th).
Despite the defeat, Golden saw an underclassman step up: Ashlyn Bates dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Kirkpatrick, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Conifer's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Evergreen, falling 53-23. Conifer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-4.
Golden has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Conifer, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Golden against Conifer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 69-16 victory. With Golden ahead 42-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
