On Friday Carrizozo will take on Lake Arthur at 6:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
Carrizozo faced Animas in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Carrizozo took a serious blow against Animas last Friday, falling 29-64. Carrizozo's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Jacob Narvaez, who rushed for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Narvaez's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past five games.
Meanwhile, there's no need to mince words: Lake Arthur lost to Hondo Valley, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 40-89. This makes it the second defeat in a row for Lake Arthur.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Carrizozo have been dynamite on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 50.63 points per game. We'll see if Lake Arthur can find some way to disarm them.
