Valley Christian hasn't had much luck against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Valley Christian Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Valley Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Western Sierra Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge.
Valley Christian is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Cristo Rey: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Valley Christian blew Cristo Rey out of the water with an 80-20 final score. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Valley Christian found their leader in sophomore Josh Becker, who went 8-for-13 en route to 21 points and three steals. What's more, Becker also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Kravchuck, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.
Valley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They claimed a resounding 69-24 victory over the Knights. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 23 points or more this season.
Valley Christian better keep an eye on Daniel Vovc. He was instrumental in Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's win, putting up 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Franco Omega, who posted 13 points.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points over those games. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Valley Christian and Western Sierra Collegiate Academy are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Valley Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 65.7 points per game. However, it's not like Western Sierra Collegiate Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Valley Christian took a serious blow against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 86-36. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Valley Christian was down 51-19.
