Kermit is 2-8 against Presidio since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will host the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Kermit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Kermit made easy work of Anthony and carried off a 25-2 win. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Aliha Saenz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Saenz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Isabella Urquidi was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Mary Valenzuela was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and four RBI.
Kermit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. They are 11-4 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Presidio fell victim to Alpine and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bucks, falling 18-0. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Bucks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Kermit pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Presidio, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kermit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .571. However, it's not like Presidio struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Kermit's way against Presidio in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Kermit made off with a 19-4 win. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
