Football Recap: Father Judge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Springfield Township

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Father Judge). They were the clear victors by a 48-27 margin over the Springfield Township Spartans on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Crusaders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Spartans are ranked 285th).

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Torrealba, who threw for 166 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 49 yards. 87 of Torrealba's passing yards were hauled in by Logan Curcio, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Father Judge and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points over those games. As for Springfield Township, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Father Judge and Springfield Township will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Crusaders will square off against rival St. Joseph's Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Springfield Township is set to take on their familiar foe Upper Moreland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
