The Blackford Bruins lost against the Frankton Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Blackford received a tough blow as they fell 57-39 to Frankton. It was the first time this season that Blackford let down their fans at home.
Blackford's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gage Baker, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Kian Wells who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Dillon, who scored four points.
Frankton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Carmack, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Carmack hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Joey Wright was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists.
Blackford's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Frankton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackford won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Frankton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wes-Del at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Wes-Del is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
