The North Brunswick Scorpions will be taking part in a tournament against the West Stanly Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
North Brunswick took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Whiteville by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Jada Thomas was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emilee Camacho, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while West Stanly put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Cherryville. The Colts were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Ironmen. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jenna Brock and Laney Tucker did most of the damage at the plate: Brock went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tucker got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Kennedy Austin was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for West Stanly and bumps their season record up to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for North Brunswick, their record is now 11-7.
North Brunswick might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from West Stanly in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
