The Manning Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the Scott's Branch Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Manning focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
After a string of four wins, Manning's good fortune finally ran out. They took a serious blow against Crestwood, falling 81-40. Manning has struggled against Crestwood recently, as their match on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Manning's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lovell Stevenson, who scored 6 points along with 4 blocks, and Tavion Carter who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds. Carter has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Peyton Frierson was another key contributor, scoring 2 points.
Meanwhile, Scott's Branch earned a 30-17 win over Lake Marion on Tuesday. The victory was just what Scott's Branch needed coming off of a 68-44 defeat in their prior contest.
Scott's Branch can attribute much of their success to Jordan Kind, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Williams, who scored 4 points along with 3 steals.
Their wins bumped Manning to 4-2 and Crestwood to 4-0.
Everything went Manning's way against Scott's Branch in their previous matchup on Friday as Manning made off with a 68-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manning since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
