Softball Recap: Bellaire's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Bellaire made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shadyside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Big Reds were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The Big Reds not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Marissa Pacifico tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Kovach, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Calleigh Holt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Bellaire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shadyside only posted an OBP of .241.

Bellaire's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Shadyside, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Bellaire will head out on the road to face off against Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shadyside, they will host Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
