Baseball Recap: Loretto Triumphs

The Loretto Mustangs beat the Columbia Central Lions 8-5 on Friday.

Grayson Burleson was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Loretto: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Casen Springer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Loretto's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Columbia Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Looking ahead, Loretto will venture away from home to challenge Richland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Central, they will host Shelbyville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
