Hooper Bay has been on the road for six straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They and the Unalakleet Wolfpack will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hooper Bay knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully the Wolfpack like a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Hooper Bay faced the Comets in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hooper Bay walked away with a 62-55 victory over the Comets. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hooper Bay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Latrell Lake, who scored 29 points. Lake has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last five times he's played. Carson Long was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Meanwhile, Unalakleet scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 85-51 win over Chevak at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Unalakleet has managed all season.
Hooper Bay pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Unalakleet, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
